Sixes & Sixers

A Sixer is responsible for looking after a small group of Cub Scouts known as a 'Six'. Each Six has a different coloured woggle on their Group Scarf, and the Sixer has a special badge which they have sewn onto their right arm.

Sixers are known for their knowledge of the Cub Scout Promise; their leadership skills; and being responsible.

The Cub Scout Promise

A Sixer must know their Cub Scout Promise, and one of their key responsibilities is to help to teach other Cubs the Promise. The Promise is as follows:

I promise to do my best
To do my duty to God and to the Queen
To help other people
And to keep the Cub Scout Law.

Leading Games

As well as helping leaders to choose which games to play, Sixers help to get equipment out; help to organise their Sixes into teams; and support younger Cub Scouts while we are playing games.

Looking After Others

Often without even being asked, Sixers always show how responsible they are by helping to introduce new Cub Scouts to the rest of the Pack; answering any questions they have; and making sure that they know what to do during games and activities.

Knots and Scout Skills

Sixers know how to tie at least three different knots and have a good knowledge of some of the history of Scouting, including:

Who started Scouting, and when
The Scout salute
Why we shake our left hand
Cubs history and The Jungle Book
